Casinos

Casino Royale. The only full fledged casino in Tegucigalpa is the Casino Royale, located at the trendy Honduras Maya Hotel. Here you can try play a variety of games including blackjack, roulette, baccarat, and more. Access to the casino is limited to foreigners, so make sure that you carry some sort of ID to prove that you are not Honduran. There is also a section with slot machines.

Video Cafeteria El Palacio. An ample selection of slot machines is available at this establishment, located in the Lomas de Guijarro sector of town.

Bars

Bar Napoc. This exclusive bar located at the Hotel Marriott in Tegucigalpa has fast become one of the most popular get together spots in town. A large screen allows viewing of the important sport events around the world. Open daily at least till midnight. A large selection of national and international liquors.

El Mirador. Located at the trendy Honduras Maya Hotel, this is one of the favorite spots for locals and foreigners in the city. Good music, a good buffet with local bocas a complete selection of booze. Ask about their happy hour!

Bar Scenario. Located at the prestigious Camino Real Intercontinental Hotel, this bar offers the most extensive liquor selection in town with the outstanding cocktails. A variety of local bocas, as well as an appetizer menu is available. There is a great selection of live music during weekdays, and Saturday night is Karaoke night. Sunday, this bar is the best spot in town to relax and enjoy your favorite sport on the giant TV screens.

Tobacco Road Tavern. Once again open and in the heart of downtown Tegus. A block and a half past the old Hotel La Ronda. Open nightly, this is a great source of local info. US Owner, Tom is an amicable guy always looking to help tourist and locals alike. A large selection of books in English for sale as well as a backpackers lodge on premises with good clean beds in a dorm style setting offering the best budget deal in town.

Café Paradiso. Located on Calle Barahona, in the heart of town. This is a regular get together spot for many of the artists and writers that live in the city. It has a definite bohemian atmosphere to it. They also have an ample selection of local books and serve a good coffee.

Rojo Verde y Ajo. Located in the Colonia Palmira, one block off the Boulevard Morazan. Offers soft jazz music with a fully stocked bar. Popular with middle aged adults. A very pleasant atmosphere. Also has a full service restaurant.

Ruby Tuesday. A great bar to enjoy an extensive selection of tropical cocktails while chatting with friends or watching your favorite sport games on TV. Open daily till late. Located on Avenida Juan Pablo II, close to the Multiplaza Shopping Mall.

Fridays. The typical US neighborhood bar is also here in Tegus. Located at the Multiplaza Shopping Mall. Open daily till late. Extensive selection of tropical cocktails and drinks. A second establishment has opened its doors at Boulevard Morazan.

Bar Iguana Rana. A relatively new bar with an informal, sports bar type atmosphere located at the boulevard Morazan, A usually young crowd get together spot. Light snacks and a fully stocked bar.

Taco Taco. Located one block from the Boulevard Morazan. A popular get together spot with the local and middle aged crowd of the capital. A full service bar and Mexican style tacos are available. Outdoor and indoor ambiance’s.

Arenas Sport Café. Located in the Boulevard Morazán, this sports bar is a very popular spot for the local crowd. Open Tuesday to Saturday from 5:00 p.m. till 2:30 a.m. Major sporting events, such as NFL, NBA, boxing and baseball matches are shown via satellite on their screens throughout the establishment. During the NFL season, they are also open on Sunday from 11:00 a.m. till 6:00 p.m. There is a selection of light food, such as chicken wings, tapas, etc available. A good selection of mixed music is available. Cover charge from Thursday to Saturday.

El Cabildo Bar. Located at the Hotel Prado in the heart of downtown Tegucigalpa. Good atmosphere with ample selection of domestic and imported beers and cocktails. Live music from Monday through Saturday during the evening and night. Without doubt the best bar in downtown Tegus.

La Casita del Pueblo. Located on Boulevard Suyapa, almost across the street from the National University, this establishment offers a bohemian atmosphere with musical presentations on a regular basis. A good place to find a young local crowd.

Discos

El Nilo Ai Kap Bar. The newest disco in Tegus, with a definite international flair and outstanding Egyptian decor including a simulated Nile river crossing the disco. Located at the Furiwa restaurant building, in the Juan Pablo II area of town. Open Wednesday to Saturday, this disco offers a full international bar service with exotic cocktails and a limited snack menu. With a capacity for up to 220 seated persons, this is without doubt the most exclusive disco bar in town. If you plan on visiting this bar, bring the key to your hotel and an ID and access will be much easier. There is an entrance cover charge which varies from day to day.

Bambu. The “in” disco in Tegus, located at Boulevard Morazan, in the old Las Haciendas Convention Center building. A modern, bustling disco that is a lot of fun! Open Monday to Saturday from 8:00 p.m.

Tropical Port Disco. A continous selection of salsa and merengue music distinguishes this disco from the others in town. A good bar selection is available. Located on the Boulevard Miraflores. Closed on Sundays.
